Sparks fell from the ceiling onto the white floor of the test chamber. Though well-lit and still usable the whole thing looked broken down, a missing tile here, vines hanging there.
High above the rest of the room was a small platform with a big red button in the floor and a closed door. Landing on the platform Chell took a few steps as momentum carried her forward. She dropped a cube onto the button and the door opened.
“That’s a new record!” said GLaDOS, her tone light. “…For the slowest you’ve done so far.”
Chell tried to ignore her as she went through the door. In the elevator she leaned back on the wall and closed her eyes to rest if only for a second. While her muscles and mind were wearing down her heart just kept speeding up, making it hard to catch a breath. Much like the facility she was still running while feeling broken down.
She felt the elevator stop and pushed herself out of it; if Wheatley could do what he kept saying he would t
